Abstract
A process for the preparation of a nickel-chromium alloy, which comprises forming a melt of the alloy, casting it in the form of an ingot containing from 2 to 6% niobium, from 0.3 to 0.5% carbon , from 19 to 33% of chromium, an amount of molybdenum such that when the chromium content is less than 24%, the molybdenum content is at least [5/8 (24-% Cr]%, when the chromium content does not exceed 30% the molybdenum content is 0 to [3.5 + 0.5 (30-% Cr)]%, and when the chromium content is greater than 30%, the molybdenum content is 0 to 3.5%, from 0 to 0.01% boron and from 0 to 0.1% zirconium, the rest being nickel apart from the impurities, and work the ingot.
