Abstract

Racemic and optically active 1-isopropylamino - 3 - (o - phenylphenoxy)propanol - (2) and their salts are prepared by standard methods. The preparation of 1-(o-phenylphenoxy)-2,3- epoxypropane, 1 - amino - 3 - (o - phenylphenoxy)- propanol - (2), 1 - (N - isopropyl - benzylamino)- 3 - (o - phenylphenozy)propanol - (2) and 3- isopropyl - 5 - (o - phenylphenoxymethyl)- oxazolidone-(2) is described. The compounds of the invention are #- adrenergic blocking agents, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them together with a carrier.
