A control mechanism for use in tractor transmissions, comprising: a longitudinal support; a swivelable member supported by the support for oscillation longitudinally about a transverse axis; a lever protruding substantially upwards from said member in general as a radius from said axis and including a drive part hanging below said axis; means mounting the lever on the member for movement of the two in unison around said transverse axis and including a generally longitudinal axis around which the lever can be oscillated laterally in relation to the member between first and second positions; a first controllable element connected to said member and movable through a predetermined control range exclusively by the longitudinal oscillation of said member; a driving member supported below said transverse axis and for lateral displacement between first and second positions and including a slot receiving said lever part hanging to effect said lateral displacement by lateral oscillation of the lever and to allow oscillation in the longitudinal direction of the lever with the member capable of being oscillated, a second controllable element connected to said actuating member and movable thereto; means for regulating the movement of the first element by oscillating the lever and the member about said first and operative axis, when the lever is in its first position, to allow movement along the entire range of said first and operative element, when the lever is in its second position, to limit the movement of said first element to only an initial part of said range; and means for regulating the movement of the lever and operands to prevent movement of the lever from its second position back to its first position except when the first element is within said initial part of said range.
