Abstract

The invention comprises reactive water-soluble complexes of metals of atomic number from 24 to 29 inclusive and azo dyes of formula <FORM:1067152/C4-C5/1> wherein M is a 1-hydroxy-3-sulpho-naphthalene radical linked in the 2-position to -N=N-and in 6- or 7- position to -N(R)- either directly or via an anilino group, n is 1 or 2, A is o-phenylene or -napthylene, R, R1 and R2 are independently H or C1-C4 alkyl, T1 is a triazin or pyrimidine nucleus containing a labile substituent, T2 is a triazine or pyrimidine nucleus containing at least one labile substituent and B is a monoazo dye residue of formula -D-N = N-E-wherein D is a phenylene or naphthylene residue and E is the nucleus of a p-coupling primary or secondary aniline or naphthylamine or is a 5-pyrazolone radical linked in the 4-position to -N = N- and carrying in the 1-position a mono- or di-cyclic radical of the benzene series (including stilbene) which is linked to amino. Labile substituents are defined as atoms or groups bound by covalent bonds to a C atom in the 2-, 4- or 6-position of the triazine or pyrimidine nucleus, which readily dissociate under the influence of heat or alkalis to form an ion or unchanged molecule. The dyes are prepared by condensing a metal complex of an aminoazo dye of formula <FORM:1067152/C4-C5/2> with a polyhalo-triazine or -pyrimidine and if desired replacing one or more halogen atoms in the condensate by other groups which may or may not be labile. Specified further reactants include ammonia, amines, mercaptans, alcohols, phenols, alkali metal sulphites or thiocyanates, dithiocarbamates and thio-amides. The dyes may be used to colour natural and synthetic polyamides, cellulose materials and in particular leather in brown shades by the usual reactive dye processes.
