Abstract

A lifting device comprises a cut and creased blank foldable in two about a line (12) of symmetry and having a pair of spaced tongues (16) at each of a pair of opposed edges each tongue (16) being provided with a foldable flap (18). When the device is folded about the line (12) of symmetry, the tongues come face to face. To mount the device on a group of assembled containers, the flaps are folded back onto the outside of the tongues and the folded flaps and tongues are inserted in spaced apertures in a holding device holding a number of containers together. The flaps spring out and engage under the holding device, enabling the group of containers to be lifted by the device. Engagement of the flaps with the containers and/or holding device limits their movement so that they cannot spring back by more than 90 DEG .
