Abstract

Apparatus for examining a workpiece (1) by means of ultrasound, containing an ultrasound probe (15) which is supported by a frame (10) which can be moved in such a way that the probe (15) is brought into contact with the workpiece (1) while one of its planes of symmetry is perpendicular to the surface of the workpiece. According to the invention, the probe (15) is fastened to a probe support (13) which can be rotated parallel to this plane and is provided with means for rotating the probe support (13) until the two planes of symmetry of the probe (15) are perpendicular to the surface of the workpiece (1). The invention is used especially in the examination of workpieces in nuclear energy technology, for example in the examination of connecting pins (1) between guide tubes and the upper plate (3) of a reactor core of a pressurised-water nuclear reactor.
