Abstract

1-Hydroxy-3-aminopyrrolidone-2(I) and derivatives thereof are prepared according to the reaction <FORM:1041861/C2/1> (wherein -N = R represents an amino, dialkylamino, acylamino or morpholino group and X represents a chlorine, bromine or iodine atom). 1-Hydroxy-3-glycylaminopyrrolidone-2 is prepared from (I) via 1-hydroxy-3-(benzyloxy-carbonylglycyl)aminopyrrolidone-2.ALSO:Pharmace utical preparations comprise a compound of the general formula (I) <FORM:1041861/A5-A6/1> (wherein-N = R represents an amino, dialkylamino, acylamino or morpholino group) and a carrier, the preparations being in the form of ampoules or solid dosage units (such as tablets, pills and suppositories) each containing 5-500 mg. of the active ingredient. Compounds (I) are central nervous system depressants.
