Abstract
A process for treating aqueous dispersions of one or more macromolecular organic substances, by contacting dispersions with a component a consisting of one or more organic compounds that: a) do not give an acid reaction in the aqueous phase; b) have a boiling point between -50ºC and 200º c; c) at the temperature and pressure at which the treatment is carried out, they have a solubility not exceeding 10 grams in 100 ml of water; and d) are chosen so that, with respect to the macromolecular substance or in relation to at least one of the macromolecular substances, the value of the flory-huggins interaction parameter x of the organic compound, or the average volumetric x index of the organic compounds collectively considered is less than 0.6, and, after having contacted these ingredients, separating the component a from the dispersions; process characterized in that: a) the dispersions, in the presence of compound a, are also contacted with a component b consisting of one or more organic compounds that do not give an acid reaction to the aqueous phase, contains more than one atom of carbon in the molecule and have a boiling point between -50ºC and 195º c, and whose solubility at the temperature and pressure applied in the treatment is greater than 10 g in 100 ml of water; b) in this treatment, the ratio or weight ratio of the substance or macromolecular substances plus component a to the sum of water plus component b is at most 5; and c) at the end of the treatment, component b is also removed or extracted from the dispersions.
