Un procedimiento de detección del riesgo de toxicidad por 5-fluorouracilo (FU) en un sujeto, que comprende la detección en el sujeto de la presencia del polimorfismo de TYMS rs2612091; en el que: i. la presencia de dicho polimorfismo indica un mayor riesgo de desarrollar toxicidad por FU en comparación con un sujeto que no posee dicho polimorfismo; y ii. un resultado negativo indica un menor riesgo de desarrollar toxicidad por FU en comparación con un sujeto que posee dicho polimorfismo.
