Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0952131/C2/1> where R and R11 are C1-5-alkyl groups, R1 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-5-alkyl or C2-5-alkenyl group, and n is 0, 1 or 2 and their acid addition salts and their preparation (1) by reacting a strong inorganic acid ester of a 4-amino-2-(C1-5-alkyl)-5-hydroxymethyl-pyrimidine with a piperazine of formula: <FORM:0952131/C2/2> and (2) by reacting a 4-amino-2-(C1-5-alkyl)-5-halomethyl-pyrimidine with an appropriate N-unsubstituted piperazine and treating the product with an alkylating or alkenylating agent. 1,3-Dimethylpiperazine is prepared by treating 1-carbethoxy-3-methyl-piperazine with lithium aluminium hydride. Poultry feeds contain a dispersed compound I or acid addition salt of the invention feed supplements contain the substances dispersed in an edible inert carrier or diluent. Solids and water are carriers mentioned. The compounds act against coccidiosis.
