Abstract
The invention relates to compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0944907/C2/1> in which R1 represents an alkyl radical having from 1-6 carbon atoms, and R represents an alkyl radical having from 1-4 carbon atoms. Specified compounds are ethyl-methyl-(2:4-dinitro-6-sec. butyl phenyl) thionocarbonate, ethyl-methyl-(2:4-dinitro-6-methyl phenyl) thionocarbonate. The compounds may be obtained by reacting the compound CSCl2 with a compound of the formula R-OH to form a compound of the formula <FORM:0944907/C2/2> , which is subsequently reacted with a compound of the formula: <FORM:0944907/C2/3> to yield a compound corresponding to the above mentioned general formula I. In an alternative method the compound CSCl2 is first reacted with a compound of the formula: <FORM:0944907/C2/4> to form a compound of the formula: <FORM:0944907/C2/5> and subsequently reacting this compound with a compound of the formula ROH to yield a compound corresponding to the above Formula I. In an example ethyl-(2:4-dinitro-6-sec. butyl phenyl) thionocarbonate and methyl (2:4-dinitro-6-methyl phenyl) thionocarbonate are prepared. The compounds are used as active ingredients in herbicidal and fungicidal compositions.ALSO:Herbicidal and fungicidal compositions comprise active ingredients compounds of the general formula <FORM:0944907/A5-A6/1> in which R represents an alkyl radical having from 1-6 carbon atoms, and R represents an alkyl radical having from 1-4 carbon atoms. Specified active ingredients are ethyl-(2 : 4-dinitro - 6 - sec. butylphenyl) thionocarbonate, methyl - (2 : 4 - dinitro - 6 - sec. butylphenyl) thionocarbonate, methyl - (2 : 4 - dinitro - 6-methylphenyl) thionocarbonate, ethyl - (2 : 4-dinitro - 6 - methylphenyl) thionocarbonate. Surface active agents and liquid and solid carriers are specified.
