En algunas realizaciones, la pinza de freno 162 puede ajustarse rápidamente mientras que la máquina 10 está siendo usada para el entrenamiento, y así, ajustar la resistencia. Tal mecanismo de ajuste puede estar acoplado mecánica y/o eléctricamente al freno magnético 160 para crear un ajuste de las corrientes de Foucault en el rotor, y así ajustar el nivel de resistencia magnética. En algunas realizaciones, tal ajuste creado por el usuario puede automatizarse, tal como utilizando un botón en la interfaz de usuario 102, que está acoplado eléctricamente a un controlador, y un motor eléctrico acoplado a la pinza de freno 162. En otras realizaciones, tal mecanismo de ajuste puede operarse manualmente por completo, o puede utilizarse una combinación de manual y automatizado. En algunas realizaciones, un usuario puede hacer que un ajuste de la resistencia magnética se ejecute totalmente en un período de tiempo relativamente corto, tal como en medio segundo, en un segundo, en dos segundos, en tres segundos, en cuatro segundos y/o en cinco segundos desde el tiempo de la orden manual realizada por el usuario a través de un dispositivo de entrada electrónico o mediante el accionamiento manual de un dispositivo mecánico. En otras realizaciones, los períodos de tiempo del ajuste de la resistencia magnética pueden ser menores o mayores que los períodos de tiempo ejemplares proporcionados anteriormente.
Las figuras 12-16 muestran una realización de la máquina de ejercicio 100 con una carcasa externa 170 instalada alrededor de una pare delantera de la máquina. La carcasa 170 puede alojar y proteger las partes del bastidor 112, las poleas 125 y 146, las correas o cadenas 144 y 148, las partes inferiores de los elementos de brazo 140, el freno por aire 150, el freno magnético 160, los motores para ajustar el freno por aire y/o el freno magnético, el cableado y/u otros componentes de la máquina 100. Tal y como se muestra en las figuras 12, 14 y 15, la carcasa 170 puede comprender una caja 172 del freno por aire que comprende aberturas de entrada laterales 176 para permitir que el aire pase hacia el freno por aire 150 y aberturas de salida radiales 174 para permitir que el aire salga del freno por aire. Como se muestra en las figuras 13 y 15, la carcasa 170 puede comprender además una caja 176 del freno magnético para proteger el freno magnético 160, donde el freno magnético se incluye además de, o en lugar del freno de aire 150. Los brazos de cigüeñal 128 y las ruedas de cigüeñal 124 pueden estar expuestas a través de la carcasa, de modo que los elementos de pie 126 pueden accionarlos en movimiento circular sobre el eje A, sin obstrucción por parte de la carcasa 170.
Tal y como se usa en el presente documento, los términos "un", "una" y "al menos un/una" abarcan uno o más de los elementos especificados. Es decir, si hay presentes dos de un elemento en particular, uno de estos elementos también está presente, y así hay presente "un" elemento. Las expresiones "una pluralidad de" y "plural" quieren decir dos o más del elemento especificado.
