Material elastomérico expandible y reticulable, que comprende: (A) al menos un polímero elastomérico y un sistema de reticulación, o al menos un elastómero termoplástico y opcionalmente, un sistema de reticulación; (E) un sistema de expansión; y (F) al menos una resina reactiva, reticulable, que es un oligómero o (co)polímero que incluye al menos unidades estructurales derivadas de ácido acrílico y/o ácido metacrílico o ésteres de los mismos, que puede tener opcionalmente uno o más dobles enlaces insaturados en la cadena principal o en una cadena lateral de la misma, y que tiene preferiblemente un peso molecular promedio en número de 103 a 107, en el que la resina (F) se proporciona para constituir una red secundaria dentro de la matriz de caucho vulcanizante o fácilmente vulcanizado, pudiendo obtenerse la red secundaria mediante curado por condensación y/o (poli)adición iónica o inducida por radicales.

La figura 2 muestra en diagramas cómo puede alterarse la respuesta a la compresión mediante tanto la resina como la densidad. Comparando la figura 2b y 2c, por ejemplo, puede observarse que puede alcanzarse una resistencia a la compresión casi idéntica usando dos rutas diferentes: C5-HD o C7-LD.

15 Puede observarse a partir de la tabla 2 que hay incluso un efecto de ablandamiento a baja dosificación de F2, ya que la red secundaria o bien está alterando la red de caucho o bien ya que F2 que reacciona lentamente está insuficientemente reticulado. Aumentando el nivel de F2 y/o añadiendo una resina F1 más reactiva, la resistencia a la compresión aumenta significativamente.
