Abstract

Método de control dinámico de polarización para una tensión de polarización (20) correspondiente a un punto de cuadratura de un modulador óptico Mach-Zehnder (MZ) con una entrada de potencia óptica estabilizada y en que el punto de cuadratura puede cambiar con el tiempo, en que el modulador es configurable para ser polarizado por aplicación de la tensión de polarización (20) de tal modo que el modulador opere en cuadratura, en que el método comprende: proporcionar un objetivo para la potencia de salida del modulador, en que el objetivo para la potencia de salida del modulador es una potencia de salida correspondiente al modulador operando en cuadratura; aplicar, al modulador, una tensión de polarización (20) que tiene un valor inicial; tras ello, ajustar la tensión de polarización (20) de tal modo que la potencia de salida del modulador esté dentro de un intervalo predefinido del objetivo de potencia de salida, comparando en un comparador la potencia de salida del modulador con el objetivo de potencia de salida del modulador y o bien: (i) empezar en el valor inicial, aumentando y reduciendo de forma alterna la tensión de polarización (20) con una amplitud gradualmente creciente hasta que el comparador cambie de estado; o bien (ii) empezar en el valor inicial, reduciendo y aumentando de forma alterna la tensión de polarización (20) con una amplitud gradualmente creciente hasta que el comparador cambie de estado; e identificar la tensión de polarización (20) para la que el comparador cambia de estado como una tensión de polarización correspondiente a un punto de cuadratura del modulador óptico.
