Abstract

The invention comprises mixtures of phthalocyanine dyestuffs consisting essentially of one or more dyestuffs of the formula <FORM:0921425/IV(a)/1> where Pc is a phthalocyanine radical, L is a substituted amino radical of the formula <FORM:0921425/IV(a)/2> where R3, R4 and R5 are each hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Y is -NH-, -N-alkylwhere the alkyl group has 1 to 4 carbon atoms, -O- or -S-, m is 0 or 1, X is chlorine, bromine, sulphato or sulphonyloxy, M is different from L and is a radical of the formula <FORM:0921425/IV(a)/3> where R1 and R2 are hydrogen or a hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon radical or together form with the nitrogen atom a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, a is 0, 1 or 2, b is 1, 2 or 3 and c is 1, 2 or 3, provided that a+b+c does not exceed 4, and that when a is 0, at least one of L and M contains a sulphonic acid or sulphate ester group or R1 is hydrogen, each of the sulphonic acid and sulphonamide groups attached to Pc being directly attached to a carbon atom in the 31- or 41- positions of the benz rings of the phthalocyanine radical. The dyes are made by treating an aqueous suspension of a compound of the formula <FORM:0921425/IV(a)/4> or of a mixture of such compounds, with two different compounds one of the formula <FORM:0921425/IV(a)/5> and the other of the formula <FORM:0921425/IV(a)/6> the liberated hydrochloric acid being neutralized, and wherein in the above formulae Pc, R1, R2, R3, R4, X, Y and m have the meanings given above and a1 is 0, 1 or 2 and d is 2, 3 or 4 provided that a+d does not exceed 4, and when a1 is 0, either choosing the amines so that R1 is hydrogen or at least one of the amines contains a sulphonic acid group or a sulphate ester group, or hydrolysing one or two of the sulphochloride groups to sulphonic acid. The dyes may also be made by reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:0921425/IV(a)/7> with a sulphating agent or with a sulphonchloride. Examples are given. The dyes colour wool, silk, leather, synthetic polyamides and polyacrylonitriles from a weakly alkaline, neutral or acid solution and colour cellulose textile materials in conjunction with a treatment with an acid-binding agent.
