Abstract

Procedimiento de oxidación mejorado que comprende introducir continuamente un xileno y un toluato de alquilo inferior en la primera de una serie de zonas de oxidación, co-oxidar continuamente dicho xileno y dicho toluato de alquilo inferior en la mencionada primera zona, en la fase líquida, haciendo pasar a través de la misma un gas que contiene oxígeno; retirar continuamente producto oxidado que contiene toluato de alquilo inferior sin reaccionar procedente de dicha primera zona, hacer pasar dicho producto oxidado a una segunda zona de oxidación mientras se introduce simultáneamente xileno adicional a dicha segunda zona; continuar la oxidación de dicho producto oxidado en presencia del citado xileno adicional en la mencionada segunda zona de oxidación, en la fase líquida, por paso a través de la misma de un gas que contenga oxígeno, y retirar continuamente producto oxidado que contiene una elevada proporción de ftalato de monoalquilo y ácido tereftálico de dicha segunda zona de oxidación, estando proporcionada la cantidad de xileno introducida en cada zona de oxidación de modo que se originen velocidades de oxidación aproximadamente iguales en cada zona, en función del incremento del índice de ácido por hora, y estando la cantidad total de xileno introducida en exceso de la estequiométricamente equivalente a la cantidad de toluato de alquilo inferior introducida en el proceso.
