Abstract
Improvements introduced in the construction of graphite moderator structures for nuclear reactors of the kind comprising a plurality of columns of prismatic graphite blocks with a minimum of Wigner growth along the columns, the channels of fuel elements being arranged so that they extend axially through the columns, in which the adjacent faces of the blocks of each column are separated from each other by one or more prismatic graphite tiles with a minimum of Wigner growth normal to the axis of the column with keyways and immobilization boxes or keyways being arranged on the opposite faces of the tiles and the graphite blocks, said keys and boxes being deviated from the axial line of centers of the channel of fuel elements so as to avoid intersection with the fuel elements channel.
