Abstract

It refers to a fattening cage of the Iberian green frog (Rana perezi) bred in captivity, during the initial phase of said fattening. The cage (fig. 1), built mainly with synthetic materials, has two distinct zones, a dry part composed of feeders and shelters, and a wet part with a swimming pool with two heights; and presents water inlet and outlet.

Explanation Installations

Cages (Fig. 1, 2, 3 and 4)

Made primarily with fiberglass or other synthetic materials such as methacrylate, polycarbonate, PVC, cement, fiber cement, etc. They have a wet part located in the center of the cage and a dry part on both sides of the previous.

Specifically:

Part seca (letter A in Figs. 1, 2 and 3): they are two equal areas located on both sides of the wet part. Each of them should measure 15 cm wide and contain:

A feeder (number 2 in the Figs. 1, 2 and 3): a small dig in the cage material 0.5 cm deep, 3 cm wide and length equal to that of cage but separated 3 cm from the anterior and posterior walls of the same.

A shelter (number 1 of Fig. 1 and Fig. 4): "remove and put" piece made of methacrylate (or similar), whose length will be the same as that of the cage. Consists of a rectangular piece with a width of 6 cm, and with supports (number 5 of Fig. 4) 3 cm high that will be arranged at least one in each corner and one in the center.

Part wet (letter B in Figs. 1, 2 and 3) located between the two zones dry: it consists of a 16 cm wide pool with two heights of Water; in the center is the deepest portion (number 4 in the Figs. 1, 2 and 3) 6 cm wide and 4 cm deep; Y laterally the two areas with less depth (number 3 in the Figs. 1, 2 and 3) about 5 cm wide and 1.5 cm wide depth.

Each cage has water inlet and outlet, a at each end (number 6 in Figure 2), to have a flow water continuous of about 60 milliliters per minute.

Freshly frogs are arranged in each cage metamorphosed (imagos), with a density of about 100 animals per square meter.

At least once a week the cages are cleaned with soapy products and sanitized with products disinfectants

Enclosure

The cages are arranged in enclosures with temperature controlled conditions (18-22ºC) and photoperiod (12 hours of light - 12 hours of darkness). Sayings enclosures must have a water source to provide each cage a continuous flow and must be isolated from the outside, to maintain controlled conditions and to prevent entry of natural predators, as well as other animals and even for the arrival of strange sounds and odors.

Feeding

The feeding is carried out with feed extruded and pelleted about 2 mm in diameter and about 3 mm in diameter length. The feed is available in the feeders every 4 days following the routine (4-day cycles) indicated in Table I. The amount of feed administered will be approximately 1 gram I think by frog.

Fattening

Freshly metamorphosed frogs should have a average weight of at least 0.75 grams per animal. To check the fattening of the imagos weight controls will be carried out until reaching the 120 days where the heaviest animals will be selected (greater than 1.85 grams) for its passage to the later phase of fattening

Description of cage drawings

Three figures are presented with different perspectives of the cages (Figs. 1, 2 and 3) and another (Fig. 4) with two Different views of the feeders.

Inside the cages the different ones are represented components thereof: the dry part (letter A) and the wet part (letter B), as well as their constituents: shelters (number 1), feeders (number 2) and pool with its two heights (numbers 3 and 4). The number 6 (in Fig. 4) represents the hole of entry and exit of water.

The shelters (Fig. 4), which are pieces of removable and pon, they have at least three supports (number 5) for their support placed as seen in the image.

The cages may have the desired length but always attending to an average density of animals of 100 imagos per square meter.

Industrial application

Industrial frog farming is an activity that arouses interest in future producers due on the one hand to demand for frog meat (mainly of its legs) and for another, to the demand of live animals for restocking (whose populations in the natural environment have suffered a significant decline) As for research purposes. In addition there may be others markets: for frog skin, to obtain animal flours, oils, etc.

This patent is applicable in industries interested in frog captive breeding. With her the product is available at any time of the year and in the best sanitary conditions.

1. Cages to keep frogs, made of synthetic materials (fiberglass, polycarbonate, PVC, methacrylate, etc.), characterized by a dry part 15 cm wide with feeders 3 cm wide and separated from the back and anterior of the cage 3 cm, and shelters on each side of the cage 6 cm wide and 3 cm high; and a wet part 16 cm wide consisting of a pool with two heights of water: a shallow area on each side 5 cm wide and 1.5 cm deep and a deeper area in the center of 6 cm wide and 4 cm deep. 2. Cages, according to claim 1, with independent water inlet and outlet for the passage of a flow water continuous.
