Abstract

Un proceso electroquímico para el almacenamiento de energía y/o para la generación de corriente, que comprende las etapas de: i) mantener y hacer circular flujos de electrolito en un sistema completamente líquido, en el cual los constituyentes activos son totalmente solubles por una celda individual o por una batería de estructuras de celdas repetidas, cada celda con una cámara (cámara +ve) que contiene un electrodo +ve inerte y una cámara (cámara -ve) que contiene un electrodo -ve inerte, estando las cámaras separadas una de la otra mediante una membrana de intercambio iónico, conteniendo el electrolito que circula por la cámara -ve de cada celda durante la generación de corriente un sulfuro, y conteniendo el electrolito que circula por la cámara +ve durante la generación de corriente bromo como agente oxidante, ii) reponer o rellenar los electrolitos de las cámaras +ve y -ve haciendo circular el electrolito desde cada cámara hasta medios de almacenamiento que comprenden un volumen de electrolito mayor que el volumen de la celda durante el suministro prolongado de corriente a lo largo de un ciclo de descarga mayor que el que permitiría el volumen de la celda por sí solo, y iii) monitorizar la corriente de electrolito que contiene sulfuro como agente reductor para detectar el inicio de la formación de coloide en el interior de dicha corriente de electrolito mediante un método que comprende aplicar un campo eléctrico oscilante a la disolución y monitorizar la amplitud de la señal acústica resultante, detectándose el inicio de la formación de coloide por un brusco cambio en la amplitud de la señal acústica resultante.
