Abstract
An infra-red ray generating device, comprising a relatively small diameter, hermetically sealed tubular ampoule of quartz-like material, input conductors hermetically passed through opposite ends of said ampoule and having intermediate foil parts made of highly refractory metal, hermetically passed and directly embedded in pressed integral end parts of the ampoule, and a wound tunstene filament that extends longitudinally through said ampoule in spaced relation with the inner wall thereof and connected at its ends to said conductors, said device having a wall power load within the range of 7 to 30 watts per cm2, of ampoule surface area.
