Abstract

The conventional hydraulic shock absorbers, both of the single-tube and of the double-tube type, have a piston 2 connected to the actuating rod 3. Two chambers are formed: an expansion or traction chamber 4 and another, compression chamber 5, which are flooded with oil or a similar fluid which passes from one to the other via calibrated holes and valves existing in the piston 2 as a consequence of the upward and downward movements of the corresponding wheel. In accordance with the invention, one of the faces of the piston has suitably distributed front projections 6 carrying individual axial holes 7 which pass through the piston 2, having an edge with at least one notch 21, on which is applied a closure sheet 8 impelled by a helical spring 10 which bears on a nut 11 anchored to the end of the rod 3. There are other, peripheral holes 13 located outside the front projections 6 and which are closed off in the other face of the piston 2 by a second closure sheet 14 assisted by a spring 15 which keeps it in the closure position, there also being, in this latter face, an annular projection or edge 16 of greater diameter than the closure sheet 14, on which a third closure sheet 17 is applied, assisted by a helical spring 18.
