Abstract

Central barotérmica. Instalación para la obtención de energía mecánica o eléctrica a partir de las variaciones de presión atmosférica o de temperatura del entorno. Consta de seis elementos: (1) receptáculo cerrado (2) tubería de comunicación (3) masa de agua exterior (4) equipamiento electromecánico (5) sistema de bloqueo del flujo de liquido (6) compuerta de abastecimiento. Su emplazamiento puede ser junto al mar, un río, lago, etc. La combinación de estos seis elementos y las condiciones de operatividad que describiremos como etapas del proceso de puesta en funcionamiento de la central. Crean un equilibrio entre el peso de la columna liquida interior al receptáculo cerrado y la columna de aire atmosférico externa. Las posteriores rupturas de este equilibrio debidas a las variaciones de presión atmosférica, permiten el continuo funcionamiento de la central. Tiene su aplicación principal en la industria de la energía.
