Device which adjusts the volumetric compression ratio in reciprocating internal-combustion engines as a function of the degree of rotation, the level of intake and other operational factors affecting the engine, in order to increase the heat output of the engine and to economize on fuel, consisting of the introduction and electronically controlled extraction of a plunger 1 inside the combustion chamber 3 which modifies the ratio between the maximum and minimum volume in the cylinder and thereby the value of the volumetric compression ratio, which plunger may be the actual piston 10, whose maximum lift is modified when the crankshaft 15 and its support bearing 14 are pushed by a supporting threaded cylinder 12 capable of slightly modifying its lift.
