Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of hydrocarbon at a small load and to prevent the production of white smoke at starting of a diesel engine by automatically adjusting the fuel injection timing by using the differential pressure between the boost pressure from the centrifugal supercharger and the pressure varying with the engine speed.
CONSTITUTION: Between a cam 4 driving a plunger 7 in an injector 3 and a bush rod 5 transmitting the power of the cam 4 to the plunger 7, a cam follower 8 whose base end is held by an eccentric shaft 9 is provided, and the eccentric shaft 9 is linked with a piston 12a of a driving cylinder 12. The boost pressure from a centrifugal supercharger, not shown, is applied to the inside of a larger diameter-side pressure chamber 121 of the cylinder 12, and the pressure from a feed pump 1 varying with the engine speed is applied to the inside of a smaller diameter-side pressure chamber 122. The differential pressure between these pressures causes the eccentric shaft 9 to pivot, so that the fuel injection timing is automatically adjusted. This permits improvement in the combustion characteristic at a small load and starting.
