Abstract
Process is for detoxification of electrical equipment e.g. circuit breakers contg. a chamber filled with sulphur hexafluoride, in partic. to neutralise the prods. of gas decomposition under the action of an electric arc. The process includes at least a first treatment phase for the polluted gas before it is removed from the equipment and a second phase in which the equipment envelope is filled with a neutralising soln. reacting with the solid prods. in the equipment. During the first gas treatment phase the gas (G) is evacuated into a reactor (11) into which a reactive soln. (6) is sprayed to neutralise the decomposition prods. contained in the gas. Device for putting the above process into operation, comprising a receiver (5) for preparing the reactive soln. (6), a reactor (11) connected to the receiver via a circuit (12) which introduces the soln. into the reactor as a spray. The reactor contains an inlet (13) for the polluted gas (G) connected to the envelope (2) of the equipment (1) and outlet (14) for the clean gas connected to a storage reservoir (41). There is also a filling circuit (31) for the envelope connected to the storage reservoir.
