Abstract

In a maintenance/repair method for a communication terminal apparatus such as a facsimile system when a fault is identified in a part of the communication terminal apparatus, a previously registered pager or telephone number of a service engineer is dialled. When a response signal is detected from the service engineer, the telephone number of the communication terminal apparatus and a code identifying the faulty part of the apparatus are transmitted. Thus, the fault specification can be transmitted rapidly and reliably to the service engineer.
