PROXIMO A DICHA SUPERFICIE SE COLOCA UN SENSOR, COMPUESTO DE UN EMISOR Y DE UN RECEPTOR, QUE DETECTA LA RADIACION ABSORBIDA POR DICHA ZONA. LA SEÑAL DE PULSOS GENERADOS EN EL RECEPTOR ES PROPORCIONAL AL CONSUMO O A LOS MOVIMIENTOS DE ROTACION DEL DISCO (VELOCIDAD DE ROTACION SI ES MOVIMIENTO CONSTANTE).
