Abstract
Process for pickling a material made of mild steel, consisting in removing the scale formed during a conversion operation with heating by immersing the said material at a specified temperature in a pickling bath comprising a sulphuric acid/hydrochloric acid mixture and Fe(II) ions, characterised in that a pair of sulphuric acid concentration A and of hydrochloric acid concentration B is determined, giving an optimum pickling time for at least one Fe(II) ion concentration and at least one temperature, which are determined, the optimum pickling time being obtained as an optimised response by the simplex method, by comparing the values obtained for the pickling time for successive values of A and B, A and B being considered as variables, while the Fe(II) ion concentration and the temperature are constant. The invention also relates to a pickling bath and to a plant for making use of the process of the invention.
