Abstract

The resulting tube is a hybrid structural element which has a base that is rigid or, alternatively, incorporated in an inflatable craft. The method includes defining the orientation of an axial plane which contains the axial curve of the tube and calculating the shape of the tube and shaping the flexible material in two or more portions connected by seams. Thus it will be possible to control the shape of the tube once inflated, providing a gently merging shape from bow to stern and transition between the shapes necessary for use and aesthetics. The buoyancy tube is formed preferably from a flexible laminar material that is impervious to air, with longitudinal seams located either in the axial plane or offset from it.
