Abstract

Procedure for the biofiltration of carbon anhydride from combustion gases using algae.Firstly, the combustion gases are absorbed using a circulator pump (2) so that they are mixed with outside air (3) in a suitable proportion. This pump will also drive the combustion gases along its path by various pipes in the system. Where necessary, if the gases are carrying a large amount of suspended particles, they are sent through pre-filtering (4) via conventional dry, semidry or wet filters. Another circulator pump (5) is located at the filter outlet, restoring the pressure lost by the gas during pre-filtering.. The combustion gases are then cooled (6) to a temperature less than or equal to thirty degrees centigrade. The energy released during this cooling can be retrieved in part by a heating pump (7) to ensure maximum use of the heat. At this point, the combustion gases are ready to be placed in the algae cultivation basins (8).< IMAGE >Combustion gases from furnace are mixed with a suitable proportion of air and passed by blower through conventional filter of dry, semi-dry or wet type if large quantities of suspended particles are present. A second blower restores the last pressure and passes the gas through cooler which cools them to 30 deg C or below. The thermal energy is partially recovered by a heat pump, and the gas is then ready for introduction into algae culture tanks.
