Abstract

A multiple ignition coil assembly for use on vehicle IC engine systems has a pair of secondary coils that are individually wound onto separate formers (5). Each former is produced with terminal posts (B1-B4) for connection of the coil ends. A mechanical connection between the formers is provided by clamping elements (70) that project from the sides. The tips of the clamping plates have lugs (76) that engage in slots. Additional locations are formed that ensure correct axial alignment. ADVANTAGE - Allows coil formers to be coupled together before assembly in housing.
