1529136 Bobbins PYE (ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS) Ltd 25 Aug 1977 35682/77 Heading B8M [Also in Division H1] A bobbin assembly for an electric winding (Fig. 2) comprises a first insulant plastics bobbin 1 of, e.g. nylon, and a second bobbin 2 of the same; having central core members 3, 6 with respective end cheeks 4, 5; 7, 8 which define winding spaces therebetween. Integral parallel members 9, 10 of each cheek 4 are conjoined by end member 11 so as to form a rectangular hollow prismatic socket housing the second bobbin 2 inserted from above. Member 11 is rebated to receive terminal block 12 of the cheek 8 of bobbin 2. A similar terminal block 14 may be provided on cheek 5 of bobbin 1. The magnetic core may traverse the central core members 3, 6 through opening 16, and in a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) the second bobbin may be inserted in the housing from above or below. A shield may project from member 11 to isolate the terminals from the magnetic core, and the terminal blocks may carry voltage selector taps and fuses (Figs. 5, 6, not shown). The end cheek 7 of bobbin 2 may carry an orthogonal shield resting on the end cheek 5 of the first bobbin to cover part of its winding space, and may carry a flange protecting terminal block 14. (Figs. 7, 8, 9, not shown) and an orthogonal shield carried an end cheek 7 of bobbin 2 by a flexible web may cover part of its winding space (Fig. 10, not shown). A transformer (Fig. 11) may be wound on such a bobbin assembly with secondary coil 23 on bobbin 1 and primary coil 24 of fine wire on bobbin 2, with an EI laminated core 25 therein, members 9, 10 insulating winding 24 from the core. Other insulators (not shown) may be provided to isolate winding 23 from the core and overlap members 9, 10 with an orthogonal portion overlapping end cheek 5.
