Abstract

Liq. compsns. polymerisable to organic glasses with high abrasion strength contain (i) 20-80, esp. 35-70wt.% oligomeric prods. with 2 terminal allyl gps. (Component A) of formula (I) CH2=CHCH2OCOO(CH2CH2OCH2 CH2OCOO)nCH2CH=CH2 (I) where n = 2-5; (ii) 20-50, esp. 25-45,wt.% monomer prod. (Component B) of formula (II). R = Me, Et, -CH2-OCOOCH2CH=CH2; n = 0, 1; R1 = -CH2OCOOCH2CH=CH2; (iii) 0-35, esp. 0-25,wt.% of reactive diluent contg. allyl, vinyl or methacrylic gps. Pref. component A is the transesterification prod. of diallyl carbonate and diethylene glycol in a mutual molar ratio of about 2:1. Component B is the transalkylation prod. of diallyl carbonate (DAC) and an aliphatic polyol with at least 4 alcoholic OH gps. in a 4:1 molar ratio of DAC:OH gps. of the polyol. Component C may be diethylene glycol bis(allylcarbonate), vinyl acetate or methyl methacrylate. The compsn. may contain 1-6 pts. wt. of a free radical initiator per 100 pts. wt. of (A+B+C). Pref. the polyol is di-trimethylolpropane, pentaerythritol, di-pentaerythritol or tri-pentaerythritol.
