Abstract

PURPOSE: To make direct measurements of true physical parameters which do not depend on drilling machine hydraulic circuits system by providing a drilling parameter measuring apparatus between a drilling rod and a drilling head which drives the rod for rotation. CONSTITUTION: This measuring apparatus 7 is formed of a casing 15 secured to a drilling machine 1 and a tester main body 9 provided therein via a ball bearing 14. The main body 9 is provided with a gear 21 opposite a Foucault current sensor 22 so that the rotational speed of a drilling tool can be measured. The main body 9 is provide with a strain gage 23 for measuring axial compressive forces, a strain gage 26 for measuring torque, a diaphragm 30 for measuring the pressure of a drilling fluid passing through a conduit 13, and an accelerometer 34 for measuring impact forces. The apparatus 7 is mounted between a drilling head 2 and a drilling rod 3 and drilling measurements are indicated on a recorder 8. True parameters can thus be measured.
