Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the sensitivity of detection and at the same time to realize the measurement of residual stress with high accuracy, by deciding the measurement of a distortion gauge of resistance line to the size of a hole drilled to an object to be detected and then deciding the stickng position of the distortion gauge. CONSTITUTION:A distortion gauge 10 of resistance line is set at a length of <=1/2 radius of a hole 12 drilled to an object 11 to be detected and stuck to the position distant away from the center of the hole 12 by an extent of 2.5-3.5 times as much as the radius of the hole 12, e.g., at a position distant away by 3.25mm. if the diameter of the hole 12 is 2mm.. In this case, it is preferable to set two guages 10 with a distance of 90 deg. secured between them, and furthermore another gauge 10 is set at the middle between the other two gauges 10, i.e., at a position of 135 deg.. In such a way, the distortion detecting sensitivity is increased with a reduction secured to the effect of the plastic deformation due to the drilling process. Thus the residual stress can be measured with high accuracy.
