CONSISTE EN DETECTAR ARNS AUTO REPLICABLES CAPACES DE REPLICARSE AUTOCATALITICAMENTE CON UNA POLIMERASA DE ARN DEPENDIENTE DEL ARN CORRESPONDIENTE, PRODUCIENDOSE DICHOS ARNS POR TRASNCRIPCION DE UN ADN QUE COMPRENDE UN PROMOTOR OPERATIVAMENTE ENLAZADO CON UN SEGMENTO DE ADN QUE CODIFICA DICHO ARN REPLICABLE, CUYA TRANSCRIPCION SE CATALIZA CON UNA POLIMERASA DE ARN DEPENDIENTE DE ADN QUE RECONOCE DICHO PROMOTOR DE TAL MANERA QUE SE PRODUZCAN DICHOS ARNS REPLICABLES, EN DONDE DICHA POLIMERASA DE ARN DEPENDIENTE DE ADN ESTA ASOCIADA, EN UN ADUCTO, CON UNA SECUENCIA SONDA DE OLIGONUCLEOTIDO CAPAZ DE HIBRIDARSE CON LA SECUENCIA DIANA DE ACIDO NUCLEICO, O DICHO ADN QUE CONTIENE EL PROMOTOR ESTA ASOCIADO, EN UN ADUCTO, CON UNA SECUENCIA SONDA DE OLIGONUCLEOTIDO CAPAZ DE HIBRIDARSE CON LA SECUENCIA DIANA DE ACIDO NUCLEICO.
