Abstract
A video signal is sampled and the samples stored alternately in two memory planes 250, 300 so that while writing into one, the other is being read from, the signal being reconstituted over a period of time straddling the nominal start of the colour burst signal whereby for the part preceding said nominal start immediately preceding samples are re-read and for the part following said nominal start one or several groups of samples chosen from the colour burst signal are re-read after a sequence of samples in phase with the colour burst signal. Each memory plane has a corresponding random access memory (301 Fig. 3) and pre-positionable address counter (305) associated with a pre-positioning loop enclosing a read-only memory (306) for decoding starts of address jumps, a read-only memory (307) for decoding the conditions authorising address jumps and a read-only memory (308) for decoding destination addresses of address jumps.
