Abstract

A clamp which is operable with one hand includes a fixed jaw 22 and a movable jaw 12, the latter being connected to one end of a movable slide 4. One-way drive means 32, 36, 46, 52, by operation of a handle grip trigger 24, releasably engages the slide and advances the movable jaw toward the fixed jaw. Return motion of the movable jaw is accomplished manually when the one-way drive means is disengaged. A braking lever 46, biased to bind against the slide 14, prevents reverse motion of the movable jaw (12) except when disengaged from the slide. The handle advances the slide by driving a second lever 32 which binds against a slide surface. The second lever returns by spring force 36 to its original position after each stroke of the handle. A modified embodiment is disclosed in Figs 5-7 and a C-shaped clamp in Figs 8-11 (not shown).
