Abstract

Poker machine or fruit machine (one-armed bandit) in which the symbols or indexes which have to be represented visually are selected by employing a random number generator in order to generate a random number for each visual representation position, the number being selected at random from a range corresponding to the number of possibilities of visual representation for each position. The random numbers are then compared with one of two reference tables in order to select the actual symbol or index which is to be visualized. Each one of the two reference tables has a different sequence of symbols and provides the player with a different probability of winning or a distribution of different prizes, and the machine may be switched between the two reference tables after random or fixed time intervals or numbers of games.
