METODO PARA PRODUCIR UNA CEPA DE BACILLUS THURINGIENSIS (BT) DOTADA DE ACTIVIDAD INSECTICIDA SELECTIVA. UNA VIA DE PRODUCCION CONSISTE EN TRANSFERIR POR CONJUGACION, UN PLASMIDO CODIFICADOR DE ACTIVIDAD INSECTICIDA DESDE UNA PRIMERA A UNA SEGUNDA CEPA DE BT, Y LUEGO TRANSFERIR EL PLASMIDO DE LA SEGUNDA CEPA A UNA TERCERA CEPA CULTIVANDO UNA MEZCLA DE AMBAS CEPAS, TRAS LO CUAL SE AISLA LA TERCERA CEPA CON ACTIVIDAD INSECTICIDA SELECTIVA INCORPORADA. OTRA VIA DE PRODUCCION CONSISTE EN CURAR UNA PRIMERA CEPA DE BT QUE POSEE UN PLASMIDO CON ACTIVIDAD INSECTICIDA PARA DESPOJARLA DE UN PLASMIDO NO CODIFICADOR DE TAL ACTIVIDAD, CON LO CUAL LA CEPA CURADA ADQUIERE ACTIVIDAD INSECTICIDA SELECTIVA. LAS BACTERIAS ASI PRODUCIDAS SON UTILES PARA PREVENIR O TRATAR INFESTACIONES DE INSECTOS EN PLANTAS.
