SE DESCRIBE UN PROCEDIMIENTO PARA LA PRODUCCION DEL NUEVO HETEROPOLISACARIDO S-657 QUE CONSISTE EN CRECER EL MICROORGANISMO XANTHOMONAS CAMPESTRIS, ATCC 53159, EN UN MEDIO NUTRITIVO ACUOSO, POR FERMENTACION AEROBIA DE UNA FUENTE ASIMILABLE DE CARBONO Y RECUPERACION DE DICHO HETEROPOLISACARIDO S-637. EL HETEROPOLISACARIDO S-657 ASI OBTENIDO ESTA CONSTITUIDO PRINCIPALMENTE POR HIDRATOS DE CARBONO, ALREDEDOR DEL 12% DE PROTEINA Y ALREDEDOR DE 7% (CALCULADO COMO 0-ACETILO) DE GRUPOS ACILO, CONTENIENDO LA FRACCION DE HIDRATOS DE CARBONO ALREDEDOR DE 19% DE ACIDO GLUCURONICO Y LOS AZUCARES NEUTROS RAMNOSA Y GLUCOSA EN UNA RELACION MOLAR APROXIMADA DE 2:1. EL NUEVO HETEROPOLISACARIDO ASI OBTENIDO POSEE VALIOSAS PROPIEDADES COMO AGENTE ESPESANTE, SUSPENSOR Y ESTABILIZANTE EN SOLUCIONES ACUOSAS Y ES ESPECIALMENTE UTIL PARA SER UTILIZADO EN LOS FLUIDOS DE TRATAMIENTO DE POZOS DE PETROLEO.
