Abstract
Process for the production of the 2-ketoglutarate salt of vincamine in the aqueous phase. According to the invention, an aqueous suspension of vincamine base, heated to 15-50 DEG C and stirred, is prepared separately, to which there is added, rapidly and while continually stirring, an aqueous solution of 2-ketoglutaric acid, also heated to a temperature of between 15 and 50 DEG C, this addition causing first the vincamine base to dissolve and then immediate reaction between the vincamine base and the above acid, the 2-ketoglutarate salt of the vincamine dissolved in water being obtained, the above salt is left to crystallise in a few minutes in the form of a compact mass and, after cooling to a temperature between +4 and +10 DEG C to complete this crystallisation, this mass is separated completely from the aqueous medium.
