Abstract
A device for stretching leather in a continuous process is proposed, having two elastic belts which are situated one above the other, are together guided and deflected via successive rollers and between which the leather is held and conveyed forwards. At least one roller arranged in the starting region has, on its outside around which the pair of belts pass, movement elements which are frictionally engaged with the pair of belts and take the form of roll or pushing segments which exert a load on the pair of belts with a force component not just in the conveying direction, but also transversely to the latter, approximately from the centre of the rollers towards the outside on both sides. As a result of this, the leather is longitudinally and transversely stretched. Then smooth rollers are present which serve to fix the longitudinally and transversely stretched leather.
