Abstract

Procedimiento para la fabricación de cuero en el cual las pieles se impregnan con un producto de condensación sustancialmente no resinoso de uno o más aldehidos con uno o más cetonas después de lo cual la piel impreganada se trata con una solución alcalina que posee cierto grado de alcalinidad lo suficientemente elevado para producir la resinificación del producto de condensación (y que preferentemente posee una pH de por lo menos 11) pero no tan elevado para que produzca daño sustancial a la piel hasta que se haya efecturado la resinificación de dicho producto de condendación.Process for the manufacture of leather in which the hides are impregnated with a substantially non-resinous condensation product of one or more aldehydes with one or more ketones after which the impregnated leather is treated with an alkaline solution having a certain degree of alkalinity high enough to cause resinification of the condensation product (and preferably having a pH of at least 11) but not so high as to cause substantial damage to the skin until resinification of said condensation product has been effected.
