Charnela para puerta, con dispositivo incorporado de freno y de paro, especialmente para puerta de automóvil, del tipo de charnela que comprende dos palas unidas la una a la otra por un eje de articulación y dos elementos previstos en las palas respectivas que, en la apertura de la puerta, deslizan el uno sobre el otro sufriendo un desplazamiento elástico relativo, y después del franqueo de un punto muerto son retenidos el uno por el otro, caracterizada porque una de las palas (2, 22) comprende un resorte (8) de torsión y de flexión-pandeo constituido por un alambre perfilado en forma de estribo, cuyas ramas están ancladas en la pala (2) de manera que definan para el resorte (8) un eje de torsión (8b, 8b) paralelo al eje de articulación (3) de la charnela y cuya traviesa (9), recibida en por lo menos una muesca (11), está apoyada bajo tensión en contacto con un flanco de esta muesca, y la otra pala (1, 21), está provista de por lo menos un reborde rígido (7, 18, 19) que, durante el movimiento de apertura, empuja al interior de la muesca (11) la traviesa (9) del resorte (8) que franquea entonces el reborde (7) o los rebordes (18, 19) quedando en una posición que retiene la puerta abierta.
