Abstract
1304033 Springs PAUMELLERIE ELECTRIQUE 3 April 1970 [17 April 1969 7 Nov 1969] 15955/70 Heading F2S [Also in Division E2] A hinge, e.g. for a car door, comprises two parts 1 and 2 interconnected by a pivot pin 3, part 2 having a substantially U-shaped wire spring 8, the branches thereof being bent at 8b and anchored by lugs 8d to the part 2 to define a torsion axis parallel to the pivot pin, the transverse part 9 bearing under tension against a side of a recess 11 in the part 2; the part 1 having rigid cam 7 arranged so that, on opening the hinge, the transverse part 9 of the spring rides over the cam forcing the spring into the recess, and falls into a position retaining the hinge. The hinge parts 1 and 2 may be respectively L-shaped and forked as shown, or may be two flaps joined together by a pivot pin and knuckle joints, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the transverse portion 9 of the spring being retained in recesses in brackets (28), Fig. 6, on one of the flaps. The cam may be corrugated (17), Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), to provide a number of partially open positions. The hinge parts may be pressed and formed from blanks.
