A releasable locking device in the form of a cross member 13 having a central hump 17 is pivoted between the ends of the forked arm 10 of the push rod 9, the hump 17 being secured beneath the raised portion 4 of base plate 1 for downhill runs, and engagable in a recess 18 (as shown) or lying along the top of portion 4 for crosscountry walking.
