Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for producing and filling a bag for containing a medical product or a medicament, preferably a medical solution, in particular dialysate, and/or a medical dry concentrate or a preparation for parenteral nutrition with at least one butt-welded connection, as well as a bag produced by means of such a device.
- a medical product or a medicament preferably a medical solution, in particular dialysate, and/or a medical dry concentrate or a preparation for parenteral nutrition with at least one butt-welded connection, as well as a bag produced by means of such a device.
- bags for medical solutions are produced by sealing two layers of film, with a variety of manufacturing machines being used in the production of such bags.
- connection, connectors or ports on such conventionally manufactured bags is usually carried out by temporarily storing the connections between the two film layers of the bag and requires a rather complicated structure in which, for example, connectors with a special cross-sectional geometry, which are intended to enable the film to be flush with the connector and thus to ensure a tight seal, are glued or welded between two film layers of a bag.
- the present invention is based on the object of mitigating the problems of the prior art or even eliminating them entirely.
- the present invention is based on the object of creating a possibility for the efficient, cost- and space-saving production of bags for holding medical solutions.
- the present invention relates to a bag manufactured by means of a device according to the invention and to a bag system.
- the term 'medical device' includes medical solutions such as dialysis solutions for peritoneal or haemodialysis, substitution solutions, solutions for haemofiltration and preparations for parenteral nutrition.
- a device for producing and filling a bag for containing a medical product preferably a medical solution, in particular dialysate, and/or a medical dry concentrate, comprising:
- a welding station designed to fix at least one connection to the flat film by butt welding
- a forming station which is designed to form a film tube from the flat film by folding the flat film, preferably with a forming shoulder, - a sealing station designed to seal two outer edges of the folded flat film together in the running direction of the flat film, thereby forming a film tube;
- a second sealing station which is designed to seal the film tube transversely to its longitudinal direction and/or running direction through the device, whereby at least one receiving pocket is formed and/or closed in the film tube;
- a filling station which is designed to fill at least one receiving pocket of the film tube in the longitudinal direction of the film tube, preferably in the vertical direction from above.
- the welding station of a device according to the invention is designed for butt welding. According to the invention, at least one connection of a bag to be produced is thus fixed to the film forming the bag by means of butt welding and the connection is not stored between two film layers of the bag as is conventional.
- a bag manufactured by means of a device according to the invention has at least one side, preferably formed by a folded-over film, on which at least one connection is arranged by means of butt welding.
- connection attaching the connection to the side formed by a folded-over film preferably offers the advantage that the connection sits on an outermost layer of the folded-over film and is not integrated into the folded-over film or its layer structure or is interposed between two layers of film which form a bag.
- the connection is also preferably not arranged in the area of a sealing seam.
- butt welding refers to a process in which two end faces (e.g. a connecting section of a hose section and a flat film) are butt welded together in contact with one another. Butt welding is also known as mirror welding.
- the butt-welded connection can have a hose section.
- the hose section is widened on one end face of the hose section, preferably in a tulip shape, in order to create a connection section with a larger end face in the manner of a flange.
- the end face of the hose section is then placed on a surface, for example a film, and welded to it.
- the front surface of the hose section then sits on the surface of the film and is not integrated into it, for example in the case of a multilayer film it is arranged between the layers of the multilayer film or sandwiched between two films.
- Butt welding can be used to create particularly strong and resilient connections.
- a plurality of connections can be arranged on the side of the bag formed by a folded-over film, at least one of which, preferably all of which, are arranged on the film by means of butt welding.
- a further idea of the present invention is that all production steps starting with the provision of a flat film up to the final production of a bag for holding medical solution are preferably carried out with a single machine or device according to the invention. This saves space during production.
- a device according to the invention is therefore preferably designed to hold a flat film, to insert it into these openings, for example by means of punching or by means of a hot mandrel, to print the film, to provide it with at least one connection by butt welding, to fold the flat film over by means of a forming shoulder and then to seal two long edges of the film together so that a film tube is formed, to divide the film tube into different receiving pockets by means of transverse sealing, optionally to fill the receiving pockets, and then to close the receiving pockets by means of transverse sealing, thereby creating completely closed chambers and then separating the chambers from one another along the transverse sealing seams so that separate bags are created.
- the control unit of a device according to the invention is preferably designed to control it to carry out one or more of these
- control unit of a device is programmed to move and control the holding means and/or the pressure plate relative to each other in such a way that a connection section held in the holding means is held in contact with a film positioned in the receiving area for a certain period of time and at a certain temperature and pressure so that the connecting section is butt-welded to the film and forms a connection.
- the control unit can be designed to control the device, in particular the welding station and/or a preforming station, to carry out at least one of the following steps:
- connection section is preferably formed by means of pressure and heat, preferably automatically inserting the flat film into a receiving area, placing the connection section on the flat film, preferably by moving the connection section by means of the holding means and / or by moving the flat film by means of the pressure plate, wherein the flat film is intermediately stored between the connection section and the preferably heatable pressure plate, and welding the connection section to the flat film by pressing the connection section onto the flat film while exerting counterpressure by means of the pressure plate, whereby the connection section is connected to the flat film and forms a connection.
- the control unit can be designed to control the welding station and/or a preforming station to form a flange-like connecting section of a hose section during preforming, wherein a thickness of the flange-like connecting section in the longitudinal direction of the hose section is between 0.1 mm and 2 mm, preferably between 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm and in particular is approximately 0.4 mm, and a diameter of an end face of the flange-like connecting section is between 5 mm and 25 mm, preferably between 10 mm and 14 mm and in particular is 12 mm.
- the control unit can be designed to control the welding station to place a connecting section on the flat film, wherein a temperature of the connecting section is at least partially between 200°C and 280°C.
- the control unit can be designed to control the welding station to carry out welding of the connecting section to the flat film with a temperature of the pressure plate of 80°C to 150°C, preferably 90°C to 110°C for a time period of 0.1 s to 4 s, preferably 1.5 s to 3.5 s and a pressure of 0.1 N/mm 2 to 2 N/mm 2 , preferably 0.3 N/mm 2 to 0.5 N/mm 2 .
- bags for holding medical solution can be produced on a continuous strand or film tube; the bags are preferably filled in a vertical direction from above.
- a device according to the invention can therefore have a filling station in the manner of a vertical filler.
- the control unit can thus be designed to control the device to continuously produce completely sealed chambers, each connected to one another via a sealing seam, along a continuous film tube, which are each separated from one another by separating them along a sealing seam running at right angles or substantially at right angles to the longitudinal direction and/or running direction of the film tube, thereby producing separate bags, each of which has one or more chambers that are either empty or at least partially filled by means of the filling station.
- the chambers are preferably filled before the final welding at a stage in which the chambers are only limited at their lower end by a transverse sealing seam and thus form receiving pockets that can be filled from above in a vertical direction.
- Such filling ports are usually permanently closed after filling, for example with a closure cap.
- Multi-chamber bags can be manufactured using a device according to the invention.
- Multi-chamber bags preferably comprise at least two chambers that are connected to one another via an openable peel seam.
- control unit is therefore designed to control the device to further produce a peel seam in the film tube by means of a sealing station, which peel seam releasably connects two layers of film of the film tube to one another, whereby initially two receiving pockets arranged next to one another and separated by the peel seam are produced, which are each filled by the filling station, preferably by two separate filling lances, with a liquid, solid and/or pasty content which is designed for the production of dialysate.
- the two chambers of the multi-chamber bag contain two different contents.
- only one of the two chambers of the multi-chamber bag has at least one butt-welded connection and/or the other chamber has no connection, connector or port, so that the contents of this chamber can only escape through the opened peel seam, the other chamber and its connection.
- a device according to the invention can have a preforming station designed separately from the welding station for preforming the connecting section of the hose section. However, this function can also be performed by the welding station.
- the forming station of a device according to the invention preferably has a forming shoulder which is designed to fold the flat film over to form a film tube after butt welding of the at least one connection to the flat film, wherein the forming shoulder has at least one passage for the at least one connection, through which the connection passes as the film passes through the forming shoulder.
- the structural design of the forming shoulder thus preferably represents the function that a flat film with at least one connection attached by means of butt welding is processed into a film tube and then into bags on a device according to the invention.
- the forming shoulder has at least one passage for the at least one connection.
- the device can further comprise a sterilization station which is designed to sterilize a surface of the flat film and/or an interior of a bag formed from the flat film, preferably by means of radiation and/or application of a volatile disinfectant.
- the sterilization station is preferably designed to sterilize a surface of the flat film which is intended to form a bag inner surface. sterilize and is preferably arranged in the processing sequence of the device immediately in front of the forming shoulder of the forming station.
- a further aspect of the present invention relates to a bag which is produced with a device according to the invention and has at least one side or edge formed by a folded flat film, to which at least one connection is fixed by means of butt welding.
- a bag according to the invention is intended as a single-use article or as a disposable and is made of a polymer material.
- the present invention further relates to a bag system for peritoneal dialysis, with at least one bag according to the invention.
- a bag system for peritoneal dialysis with at least one bag according to the invention.
- two bags according to the invention are provided, a solution bag filled with ready-to-use dialysate and an initially empty drainage bag for receiving used dialysate.
- the present invention relates to a bag system for preparations for parenteral nutrition, with at least one bag according to the invention.
- Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a device according to the invention according to an embodiment
- Fig. 2 is a side view of the device of Fig. 1;
- Fig.3 shows a bag system with two bags manufactured by means of a device according to the invention
- Fig. 4 schematically shows a continuous production of bags when filling them in a vertical direction from above by means of a device according to the invention.
- Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a device 1 according to the invention with a storage area 2 for a flat film 3, which is held in the form of a roll and runs through a processing sequence of the device in Fig. 1 from left to right.
- the film 3 passes through a station for forming an opening in the film 3, which in this embodiment is designed as a punching station 4.
- a round opening 5 is punched into the film 3, which later allows the contents of the bag to escape from the bag through the connection in the area of the butt-welded connection.
- the opening 5 may be formed by means of a hot dome or any other suitable method.
- the film 3 then passes through a welding station 6, which is designed to fix at least one connection to the flat film 3 by butt welding.
- a hose section 7 can be seen, which is fixed to the film 3 in the welding station 6 by butt welding.
- the film 3 with several welded sections 7 runs over a deflection device. device 8 to a forming station 9, which is designed to form a film tube 12 from the flat film 3 by folding the flat film 3 with a forming shoulder 10.
- Both the deflection device 8 and the forming shoulder 9 each have a passage 11 for the passage of the hose sections 7 or connections.
- the flat film 3 and the film tube 12 are moved through the device 1 by means of a drive.
- the flat film 3 preferably moves in a horizontal direction; after the forming station, the formed film tube 12 preferably moves in a vertical direction from top to bottom, as indicated by the arrow in Fig. 1.
- a sealing seam is formed in the film tube transversely to its longitudinal direction and/or running direction, whereby at least one receiving pocket is formed in the film tube 12 in the vertical direction above the transverse sealing seam.
- the film tube is preferably sealed transversely once, but remains open at the top in order to be filled from above.
- the at least one receiving pocket of the film tube 12 is then filled in the longitudinal direction of the film tube, preferably in the vertical direction from above.
- the filled film tube 12 is then moved in the vertical direction from top to bottom or in the running direction of the film tube and a further sealing seam is formed in the film tube transversely to its longitudinal direction and/or running direction using a sealing station 16, whereby the at least one receiving pocket in the film tube 12 is closed and a closed chamber with filling material is formed.
- the sealing stations 14 and 16 can be designed as a single sealing station.
- chambers containing the contents are separated from each other by cutting along the transverse sealing seams, creating separate bags.
- Fig. 2 shows a side view of the device from Fig. 1.
- the longitudinal sealing seam 17 of the film tube 12 produced by means of the sealing station 13 and the transverse sealing seams 18 and 19 produced by means of the sealing stations 14 and 16 can be seen in particular.
- Fig. 3 shows a bag system 20 according to the invention for peritoneal dialysis with a bag 21 filled with a solution, for example with ready-to-use dialysate (also referred to as solution bag) and an empty bag 22 (also referred to as drainage bag), for example for receiving used dialysate.
- a solution for example with ready-to-use dialysate (also referred to as solution bag) and an empty bag 22 (also referred to as drainage bag), for example for receiving used dialysate.
- solution bag ready-to-use dialysate
- drainage bag also referred to as drainage bag
- the solution bag 21 and the drainage bag 22 are preferably constructed identically.
- the bags 21 and 22 each have a receiving area 23, which in the case of the solution bag 21 is preferably filled with fresh dialysate and in the case of the drainage bag 22 is initially empty, but can be successively filled with used dialysate.
- the receiving area 23 of each bag 21 and 22 corresponds to a closed chamber and is delimited by a sealing seam on a first and a second opposite side 24 and 25.
- the sealing seams of the sides 24 and 25 are created, for example, by separating continuously formed chambers on a film tube 12 at the transverse sealing seams 18 and 19 of the film tube 12.
- Each of the bags 21, 22 further comprises a third side 26 formed by a folded-over film, to which the connection or hose section 7 is permanently arranged by means of butt welding.
- each of the bags 21, 22 has a fourth side 27 with the longitudinal sealing seam 17, in which preferably at least one hanging eyelet 28 is provided.
- Each of the bags 21 and 22 is preferably produced from a flat film by folding the film on the third side 26 and sealing the outer edges of the flat film together on the fourth side 27 to form the sealing seam 17 by means of a device 1 according to the invention, whereby a film tube 12 is initially formed.
- a transverse sealing seam 18 is then formed transversely to a longitudinal direction of the film tube, which delimits the first side 24 of each bag 21, 22.
- the receiving area 23 is still open on its side 25 opposite the first side 24 of each bag 21, 22 and can thus be easily filled if desired.
- the bag can also remain empty.
- the tube sections 7 of the bags 21 and 22 are connected to a three-way valve 29, which is connected to a patient connector 30. In this way, fresh dialysate from the solution bag can be fed to a patient and used dialysate from the patient can be fed into the drainage bag.
- Fig.4 shows an example of a continuous production of bags from a continuous film tube 12, which can be used within the scope of the present invention and can be carried out by a device according to the invention.
- the film tube 12 shown in Fig. 4 preferably extends in the vertical direction during the filling shown in Fig. 4.
- the film tube 12 was produced from a flat film 3 by folding the film 3 and sealing the outer edges of the flat film together in the sealing seam 17.
- the film tube 12 comprises four bags, namely two solution bags 21 (one of which is already filled and sealed and one (top bag in Fig. 4) is currently being filled) and two drainage bags 22 (the receiving area 23 of which is empty).
- the solution bags 21 and drainage bags 22 are arranged alternately in the longitudinal direction of the film tube 12. However, this arrangement is merely an example; it is also conceivable to provide only (filled) solution bags 21 or only drainage bags 22 within a film tube 12. If solution bags 21 and drainage bags 22 are provided within a film tube 12, their arrangement relative to one another is arbitrary.
- solution bag does not necessarily mean that the bag contains a solution.
- a medical solution such as dialysate is just an example, and a "solution bag" can contain any other medical content, for example a paste or dry concentrate.
- the bags 21 and 22 are not yet separated from one another, but are each connected to one another by a common transverse sealing seam (seams 18 and 19 in Fig. 2) on the sides 24 and 25.
- the folded side of the flat film 3 forms the third side 26 (left in Fig. 4) of each bag 21, 22 and the sealing seam 17 forms the fourth side 27 of each bag 21, 22.
- Each bag 21, 22 is provided with at least one butt-welded connection 7 on its third side 26.
- the top bag shown in Fig. 4 illustrates the filling of the receiving area 23 of a solution bag 21 by means of the filling station 15 in a vertical direction from above.
- the receiving area 23 is not yet closed or sealed at its upper end shown in Fig. 4 and therefore forms a receiving pocket 31 for filling material.
- the receiving pocket 31 is filled with a specific content, for example the content indicated by hatching, preferably from above in a vertical direction by means of a separate filling device, e.g. a filling lance 32 of the filling station 15. Dialysate. If the receiving pocket 31 is sufficiently filled, it is closed by transverse sealing at its upper end.
- a separate filling device e.g. a filling lance 32 of the filling station 15. Dialysate. If the receiving pocket 31 is sufficiently filled, it is closed by transverse sealing at its upper end.
- This type of filling eliminates the need to equip each solution bag 21 with a filling port.
- the speed of filling can be increased compared to conventional filling using a filling port.
- the bags 21 and 22 can now be used as part of a bag system according to the invention.
