Abstract

The present invention relates to a packaging container (100) comprising a base part (110) and a casing part (112), wherein the base part (110) comprises a base wall (124) and an outer edge (126) of the base part (110) projecting upwards from the base wall (124), wherein the casing part (112) forms a casing (190) with interconnected side walls (172) which stands on the base part (110), in particular the base wall (124), via a lower edge (188), and at least partially encloses a packaging space (202) of the packaging container (100), and wherein the outer edge (126) covers the casing (190) on the outside at least in sections, wherein the base part (110) has at least one locking part (138) connected to the base wall (124) and/or the outer edge (126), which is arranged on the inside with respect to the outer edge (126) and comprises or forms a projection (150) which engages in at least one corresponding recess (184) formed on a side wall (172) adjacent to the outer edge (126) and recessed relative to the lower edge (188).

Description

The present invention relates to a packaging container comprising a base part and a casing part, wherein the base part comprises a base wall and an outer edge of the base part protruding upwards from the base wall, wherein the casing part forms a casing with interconnected side walls which stands on the base part, in particular the base wall, via a lower edge and at least partially encloses a packaging space of the packaging container, wherein the outer edge covers the casing on the outside at least in sections.

In such a packaging container, the packaging space can be limited at the bottom by the base part and in the circumferential direction by the casing. It can be provided that a lid part is placed on top of the casing in order to cover the packaging space. It is known that the casing part can be transferred, for example, from a flat storage position into the use position forming the casing, whereby the packaging container can be stored in a storage state in a space-saving manner.

Packaging containers with a base part and a shell part, which can be placed on the base wall as a shell and fixed to the base part when in the upright position, are for example in the EP 2 505 509 A1 and the EN 10 2017 122 009 A1 described. The respective jacket part is attached to the base part via a foldable holding part.

Other packaging containers with base and jacket are available, for example, in the US 4,606,461 A , the US 2011/048990 A1 , the JP H11-11457 A , the EP 2 256 051 A1 and the US6,050,410A described.

The object of the present invention is to provide a packaging container of the type mentioned at the outset which is designed to be easy to handle.

This object is achieved according to the invention in a generic packaging container in that the base part has at least one locking part connected to the base wall and/or the outer edge, which is arranged on the inside with respect to the outer edge and comprises or forms a projection which engages in at least one corresponding recess formed on a side wall adjacent to the outer edge and recessed relative to the lower edge.

In the packaging container according to the invention, when used as intended, the casing rests on the bottom part, in particular the bottom wall, via the lower edge. When used as intended, the bottom part is arranged at the bottom in relation to the casing in the direction of gravity. Preferably, at least one locking part of the bottom part is arranged on an outer edge that projects upwards from the bottom wall and is connected to the bottom wall and/or the outer edge. The locking part comprises or forms at least one projection that can engage in a corresponding recess on the side wall that is adjacent to the outer edge and is covered on the outside by the outer edge. In this way, the casing can be fixed relative to the bottom part in at least one spatial direction, in particular in the plane of the side wall, in a structurally simple and therefore easy-to-handle manner.

In this case, "outside" and "inside" refer to an arrangement of the outer edge of the base part relative to the casing. The outer edge is arranged on the outside in relation to the side wall, which is arranged on the inside in relation to the outer edge and in turn encloses the packaging space on the outside.

It is understood that more than one locking part can be arranged on the base part and that more than one recess can be arranged on the casing. This will be discussed in more detail below.

In particular, it is advantageously provided that the casing is secured against movement in one direction in the plane of the side wall, in particular parallel to the bottom wall, via the interaction of the at least one projection and the at least one recess. In this case, the recess and the projection can in particular form corresponding stop elements relative to one another. For example, edges of the recess that recede from the lower edge of the side wall can form stop elements for opposite sides of the at least one projection.

Advantageously, the at least one projection can engage with play in the at least one recess. This makes it easier for a user to insert the projection into the recess, which improves the handling of the packaging container.

To implement the advantage described above, it can be provided, for example, that the at least one recess tapers upwards starting from the lower edge.

In a side view of the side wall having the recess, the recess can, for example, have a trapezoidal contour.

It can be advantageous if the at least one locking part is formed in one piece with the base wall and/or in one piece with the outer edge. This enables a structurally simple production of the packaging container, in particular the base part, which can be made from a paper material, for example, in particular from corrugated cardboard.

It can be provided, for example when manufactured from a paper material, that the at least one locking part is formed by folding up the base part from a blank which comprises the base wall and/or the outer edge.

Alternatively or additionally, it can be provided that the at least one locking part comprises a first locking part section and a second locking part section, wherein the first locking part section is foldably connected to the bottom wall about a fold line and is foldably connected to the second locking part section about a fold line, which is further foldably connected to the outer edge about a fold line.

For example, the three fold lines are aligned parallel to each other.

The first locking portion may preferably be aligned parallel to the outer edge and the second locking portion may, for example, be aligned parallel to the bottom wall.

The at least one locking part can, for example, be formed in cross-section - viewed transversely to the above-mentioned fold lines - as a "step" on the base part, which extends upwards from the base wall with the first locking part section and inwards from the outer wall with the second locking part section. The cross-section of the step can, for example, be rectangular.

It can be provided that at least one engagement opening is formed in a connection area of the bottom wall with the outer edge and that the locking sections are relatively can be folded relative to one another around the fold line, the first locking section being foldable relative to the base wall and the second locking section being foldable relative to the outer edge around the fold lines, so that the locking sections engage in or pass through the at least one engagement opening. As a result, the at least one locking part can be arranged in the engagement opening in a space-saving manner, for example when the packaging container is in storage, whereby space can be made available on the base part, for example to accommodate the flattened casing part.

It can be advantageous if at least one tab directed towards the base wall is arranged on the side wall at the at least one recess and if a corresponding receptacle is formed on the at least one locking part, into which the at least one tab engages. In this way, additional fixation of the casing relative to the base part can be achieved. As a result, the packaging container has greater stability when used as intended. The at least one tab can engage in the corresponding (at least one) receptacle. As a result, fixation of the casing relative to the base part can be achieved in at least one spatial direction, preferably a spatial direction transverse or perpendicular to a plane of the side wall.

Accordingly, it can be advantageous if the casing is secured against movement in a direction transverse and in particular perpendicular to a plane of the side wall, in particular parallel to the base wall, via the interaction of the at least one tab and the receptacle, wherein the at least one tab and the receptacle form corresponding stop elements to one another. For example, the tab can strike an edge of the receptacle on opposite sides and is thus secured against movement.

Preferably, the at least one tab can be arranged centrally in the at least one recess, wherein "centrally" can refer in particular to the extension of the recess along the direction of the side wall, in the circumferential direction of the packaging container.

In order to achieve a structurally simple design, the at least one tab can, for example, be formed integrally with the side wall.

The at least one tab may, for example, have a protruding free edge portion facing the bottom wall and which is remains behind. In the present case, this can be understood in particular to mean that the free edge section is arranged above the lower edge, so that the casing does not protrude above the at least one tab on the base wall. This can be advantageous for handling the packaging container when inserting the tab into the receptacle.

Advantageously, the at least one tab can engage with play in the receptacle in order to make it easier for a user to handle the packaging container.

The tab may be provided to taper towards the base wall. This makes it easier for a user to insert the tab into the receptacle, improving the handling of the packaging container.

The receptacle can, for example, be designed in the shape of a slot, wherein its extension in the direction of the side wall, in the circumferential direction of the packaging container, is significantly greater than perpendicular to the plane of the side wall.

It can be advantageous, as has already been discussed, for more than one locking part to be provided on the base part and for more than one recess to be formed on the side wall and/or for more than one tab to be arranged on the at least one recess. This can achieve an even more reliable fixation of the casing relative to the base part during intended use.

For example, it can be provided that two or more tabs are arranged on the at least one recess or on at least one recess.

For example, several locking parts can be provided and, associated with a respective locking part, a respective recess. The locking parts can be provided on the same outer edge of the base part if several outer edges are provided. The recesses can be provided on the same side wall of the plurality of side walls of the casing. The locking parts can be provided on different outer edges of the base part if several outer edges are provided. The recesses can be provided on different side walls of the casing.

For example, the base part comprises two opposing outer edges, and the casing comprises two opposing side walls, wherein at least one locking part is arranged on a respective outer edge and on a respective side wall at least one recess is formed. Such a design can be provided, for example, in a packaging container with a rectangular floor plan.

Alternatively or additionally, it is provided, for example, that the base part comprises two outer edges aligned at an angle to one another and adjoining one another and the casing comprises two side walls aligned at an angle to one another and adjoining one another, with at least one locking part being arranged on a respective outer edge and at least one recess being formed on a respective side wall. The above configuration is provided, for example, in a packaging container with a rectangular outline, with the respective angle being 90° or substantially 90°.

The packaging container can, for example, have a rectangular base plan, wherein the base part comprises four outer edges which are connected to form an overall peripheral edge surrounding the casing on the outside.

The casing can be designed to be self-contained, with side walls that are adjacent to one another at an angle being permanently connected to one another. In this case, "permanently" means that, during normal use, a user is not intended to separate the side walls from one another.

Alternatively, it can be provided that the casing can be opened, wherein at least two adjacent side walls can be detachably connected to one another.

It can be advantageous if the side walls are connected to one another in a foldable manner via fold lines and if the casing part can be unfolded from a storage position, in which it is folded together by folding the side walls relative to one another, into a use position in which the casing part forms the casing, whereby the casing part takes up less space in the storage position than in the use position. In this way, the casing part can be stored in a space-saving manner. For example, the casing part is positioned folded up on the base part in the storage position.

It can be advantageous if at least one of the side walls can be folded along a fold line, with the fold line running in the area of the at least one recess. If the at least one tab is present, it is preferably provided that the fold line runs through the at least one tab. This offers the advantage, for example, that the unfolded side wall can be stabilized by the tab being inserted into the advantageously engages a slot-shaped receptacle. When unfolded, the jacket is secured at the side wall against accidental folding back.

The at least one recess is preferably arranged centrally or substantially centrally on the side wall, in the direction of its extension in the circumferential direction of the packaging container.

For example, the recess is arranged centrally on the side wall with respect to a longitudinal direction or a transverse direction of the packaging container.

The same may apply, for example, to at least one tab.

The packaging container can comprise a lid part forming a top wall, which, defining a use state of the packaging container, is detachably placed on the casing and covers the packaging space at least in sections on the top. In this way, packaged goods accommodated in the packaging space can be covered and protected on the top.

Preferably, the lid part, defining a storage state of the packaging container, is detachably placed on the base part, with the jacket part assuming the storage position preferably being positioned between the base part and the lid part. This makes it possible to store the packaging container in a space-saving manner, with the jacket part conveniently being accommodated between the base part and the lid part.

The lid part can be designed as a slip lid which, when in use, overlaps the casing and/or the base part when stored with a lid edge at least in sections. The lid edge is, for example, a continuous edge on the lid part.

It can be provided that at least one recess is formed on a lid edge of the lid part in the area of the at least one engagement opening for the at least one locking part, into which at least one of the locking part sections engages. The lid part can be dimensioned such that in the use state it engages over the casing in a form-fitting manner, with the casing being arranged on the inside with respect to the outer edge. In the storage state, the lid part can engage over the base part in a form-fitting manner, with the outer edge for example, it is pressed slightly inwards in relation to the state of use, such as when made of corrugated cardboard, whereby at least one locking section can engage in the recess to save space.

It can be provided that the base part and/or the casing part and/or the cover part is made of a paper material, in particular of corrugated cardboard. A single-layer or multi-layer corrugated cardboard can be provided.

It can be provided that the base part and/or the casing part and/or the cover part is made from a one-piece material cut, which preferably consists of a paper material, in particular of corrugated cardboard.

The packaging container can be a pallet container, for example. Accordingly, the packaging container can comprise a pallet on which the base part is fixed or can be fixed. The pallet is made of wood, for example. The dimensions of the pallet in terms of length and width can, for example, correspond to those of the base part.

The drawing shows a packaging container according to the invention, which is designated overall by the reference number 100 and is designed for transporting packaging items not shown in the drawing. The packaging container 100 is designed here as a large container which has a rectangular floor plan, which is not restrictive for the present invention. The packaging container 100 extends along a longitudinal direction 102 and a transverse direction 104 aligned perpendicularly thereto. In addition, the packaging container 100 extends in a vertical direction 106.

The dimensions of the packaging container 100 in the longitudinal direction 102 can be, for example, approximately 140 to 150 cm, and in the transverse direction 104, for example, approximately 110 to 120 cm. In the height direction 106, the packaging container 100 can be without a pallet 108 in the state of use ( Figure 1 ) have a height of approximately 110 to 120 cm and can be stored in a space-saving storage state ( Figure 2 ), for example, approximately 10 to 20 cm.

In the present embodiment, the packaging container 100 is a pallet container which includes a pallet 108, made in particular from wood, on the bottom to increase the load-bearing capacity and stability. The pallet 108 is, however, optional.

In the present case, the packaging container 100 comprises a base part 110, a casing part 112 and a lid part 114. In the present example, the parts 110, 112 and 114 of the packaging container 100 are made from a paper material, in particular from corrugated cardboard. This is preferably a multi-layer corrugated cardboard to increase the stability of the packaging container.

When erecting the respective part 110, 112 and/or 114 from the blanks 116, 118 and/or 120, any required connections can be formed in different ways. For example, a connection is possible by gluing, stapling or clamping. Gluing is preferably selected. Alternatively, a plug connection is possible, for example.

In its intended use, the base part 110 is positioned on the pallet 108 and is preferably connected to it, for example by clamping. The dimensions of the pallet 108 and the base part 110 in the longitudinal direction 102 and in the transverse direction 104 advantageously correspond.

In its intended use, the packaging container 100 is positioned on a support surface 122 on which it rests above the pallet 108.

As can be seen in particular from the Figures 1 , 3 , 4 and 10 , the base part 110 comprises a planar base wall 124. Four outer edges 126, 128 are held on the outside of the base wall 124, which protrude upwards from the base wall 124. The outer edges 126 are arranged on longitudinal sides 130 and extend in the longitudinal direction 102. The outer edges 128 are arranged on transverse sides 132 and extend in the transverse direction 104. The outer edges 126 are opposite one another in the transverse direction 104. The outer edges 128 lie opposite each other in the longitudinal direction 102. Together, the edges 126, 128 form an overall edge 134 of the base part 110.

Adjacent edges 126, 128 are connected to one another via a respective tab 136, wherein the tabs 136 are held in the present case on the outer edges 126. The edges 126, 128 are folded relative to the base wall 124 when erected and connected to one another via the tabs 136.

The base part 110 of the packaging container 100 according to the invention comprises at least one locking part 138 for fixing the casing part 112. In the present case, two locking parts 138 are provided, one of which is arranged on each of the outer edges 126.

It can be provided that at least one locking part 138 is arranged on each edge 126, 128 or more than one locking part 138.

The design of the locking parts 138 is identical, so that only one of the locking parts 138 will be discussed below. The corresponding explanations apply to the other locking part 138 in a corresponding manner.

As can be seen from the Figures 1 , 3 and 10 As can be seen, the locking part 138 is arranged centrally on the base part 110 in the longitudinal direction 102. In the intended state of use of the packaging container 100, the locking part 138 is arranged on the inside on the outer edge 126 ( Figure 5 below and Figure 7 ).

The locking part 138 is formed integrally with the bottom wall 124 and the outer edge 126 from the blank 116. The locking part 138 can be pulled out of the plane of the blank 116 and erected by folding the outer edge 126 relative to the bottom wall 124.

The locking part 138 has a first locking part section 140 and a second locking part section 142.

The first locking section 140 is foldable on the bottom wall 124 about a fold line 144. The locking sections 140, 142 are foldable relative to each other about a fold line 146 foldable. The second locking portion 142 is foldable at the outer edge 126 about a fold line 148.

In the intended, inwardly folded state, the first locking section 140 protrudes upwards from the bottom wall 124 and the second locking section 142 protrudes inwards from the outer edge 126. In cross-section transverse to the longitudinal direction 102, the locking part 138 has a step shape, which in the present case is rectangular.

The locking part 138 forms a projection 150 projecting upwards from the bottom wall 124 and arranged on the inside with respect to the outer edge 126.

The second locking section 142 comprises two segments 154 separated from one another in the longitudinal direction by a receptacle 152. The receptacle 152 is designed in the shape of a slot and extends in the transverse direction 104 from the outer edge 126 to the first locking section 140.

In the connection area of the bottom wall 124 with the outer edge 126, an engagement opening 156 is formed as a result of the folding of the locking part 138, see for example the Figures 6 to 9 .

Starting from the unfolded position, the locking part 138 can be folded into the engagement opening 156 by folding the locking part sections 140, 142 relative to each other, the first locking part section 140 relative to the bottom wall 124 and the second locking part section 142 relative to the outer edge 126. In this case, the locking part 138 engages in or through the engagement opening 156 ( Figures 2 , 3 , 8 and 9 ).

As can be seen in particular from the Figures 1 to 3 and 11 , the cover part 114 has a design that largely corresponds to the base part 110. The cover part 114 is dimensioned such that it covers the base part 110 in a storage state of the packaging container 100 ( Figure 2 ) in a form-fitting manner. For this purpose, the cover part 114 is designed as a slip-on lid 158.

The cover part 114 comprises a ceiling wall 160, longitudinal outer edges 162 and transverse outer edges 164.

The edges 162, 164 together form a lid edge 166 which projects downwards from the top wall 160. The edges 162, 164 are connected to one another via tabs 168 which are held on the outer edges 162 in this case.

In the present case, recesses 170 are formed on the outer edges 162, starting from the free edges. The recesses are arranged centrally on the outer edges 162 with respect to the longitudinal direction 102 and are located in the region of the engagement openings 156 and thus also in the region of the locking parts 138 when they engage in the engagement openings 156.

As can be seen in particular from the Figures 1 , 3 , 4 and 12 As can be seen, the casing part 112 from the blank 118 is provided with two side walls 172 and two further side walls 174. In the use state of the packaging container 100, the side walls 172 are longitudinal side walls which lie opposite one another with respect to the transverse direction 104. In the use state, the side walls 174 are transverse side walls which lie opposite one another with respect to the longitudinal direction 102.

One of the side walls 172 is foldably connected to the adjacent side walls 174 via fold lines 176. The other side wall 172 is foldably connected to the adjacent side wall 174 and a fastening tab 180 via fold lines 178, which in turn is fixed to the other of the side walls 174. As a result, the second-mentioned side wall 172 is foldably connected to the second-mentioned side wall 174.

Each of the side walls 172 is foldable along a respective fold line 182. The fold line 182 is arranged centrally on the side walls 172 with respect to the longitudinal direction 102 and extends in the vertical direction 106 in the use state.

In normal use, the casing part 112 is formed from the blank 118 into a self-contained ring, with one side wall 172 and the adjacent side wall 174 being non-releasably connected to one another via the fastening tab 180.

The casing part 112 has a plurality of recesses 184 and, arranged thereon, tabs 186, associated with a respective locking part 138. Each locking part 138 is associated with a recess 184 and a tab 186. The recesses 184 and tabs 186 are designed identically, so that, as with the locking part 138 only one recess 184 and one tab 186 are discussed and the statements apply to both recesses 184 or both tabs 186.

The recess 184 is arranged centrally on the side wall 172 with respect to the longitudinal direction 102. The recess 184 projects back from a lower edge 188 of the side wall 172. When the packaging container 100 is in use, the lower edge 188 is a lower edge of a casing 190 of the packaging container 100 formed by the casing part 112.

As can be seen from the Figures 4 , 5 , 7 and 12 As can be seen, the recess 184 is essentially trapezoidal in plan view of the side wall 172. It tapers upwards from the lower edge 188.

The fold line 182 is arranged in the area of the recess 184 and represents, as it were, an axis of symmetry for the recess 184 ( Figure 12 ).

The aforementioned tab 186 is formed in one piece with the side wall 172 and arranged in the area of the recess 184. In the intended use, the tab 186 points downwards in the direction of the base wall 124. A protruding free edge section 192 of the tab 186 remains in the direction relative to the lower edge 188. In the vertical direction, the edge section 192 is therefore at a distance from the base wall 124 in the use state when the casing 190 stands on the base wall 124 above the lower edge 188.

The tab 186 is arranged centrally on the side wall 172 with respect to the longitudinal direction 102 and further centrally with respect to the recess 184 and divides the recess 184 into two sections opposite each other with respect to the fold line 182.

The fold line 182 extends through the flap 186 and preferably forms an axis of symmetry for the flap 186 within itself.

The tab 186 could also be called a tongue.

Starting from the upper edge of the recess 184, the tab 186 tapers towards the lower edge 188. In other words, the tab 186 widens starting from the free edge portion 192 pointing away from the lower edge 188 and, in the use state, upwards.

The packaging container can be stored in a space-saving storage state. The casing part 112 can be folded up to save space ( Figure 3 ), in that the side walls 172, 174 are folded relative to each other about the fold lines 176, 178 and additionally the side walls 172 are folded in on themselves about the fold lines 182.

The casing part 112 is positioned on the base part 110. The locking parts 138 preferably engage in the engagement openings 156 or through them, so that the space enclosed by the outer edges 126, 128 can be used as best as possible. In other words, for a given size of the casing part 112, the base part 110 and thus the footprint of the packaging container 100 can be made small in this way.

The casing part 112 is positioned on the base part 110. The cover part 114 is placed on the base part 110, with the cover edge 166 covering the base part 110 on the outside.

Starting from the storage state, the packaging container 100 can be transferred to a use state.

After removing the cover part 114, the casing part 112 can be removed and erected to form the casing 190 ( Figure 4 ). The casing 190 is placed over the lower edge 188 onto the base part 110 and in particular the base wall 124.

The casing part 112 is dimensioned such that it is positioned in the longitudinal direction 102 and in the transverse direction 104, preferably in a form-fitting manner between the outer edges 128 and the outer edges 126, respectively. The casing is arranged on the inside with respect to the edges 126, 128, with the side walls 172 with the recesses 184 and tabs 186 being adjacent to the outer edges 126 on which the locking parts 138 are arranged.

As can be seen in particular from the Figures 6 and 7 As can be seen, the projection 150 formed by the locking part 138 engages from below into the recess 184. The recess and the projection 150 form corresponding stop elements 194 and 196, respectively. Jacket secured against movement in the plane of the side wall 172 parallel to the bottom wall 124, in this case in the longitudinal direction 102.

The tab 186 engages the receptacle 152 from above. The tab 186 and the outer edge 126 as well as the first locking section 140 form corresponding stop elements 198 and 200, respectively. As a result, the casing is secured against movement perpendicular to the plane of the side wall 172, in this case in the transverse direction 104.

Overall, the design described above allows a reliable locking of the casing 190 to the base part 110. This facilitates user-friendly handling of the packaging container 100.

The projection engages with play in the recess 184. In a corresponding manner, the tab 186 engages with play in the receptacle 152. This makes it easier for a user to place the casing 190 on the base wall 124.

It is advantageous that the fold line 182 runs through the tab 186. The fact that the tab 186 is arranged within the slot-shaped receptacle 152 in the present case stabilizes the side wall 172. The engagement in the receptacle 152 prevents the side wall 172 from folding in on itself and stabilizes the casing 190 in the state of use.

In the use state, a packaging space 202 of the packaging container 100 is defined, which is delimited at the bottom by the bottom wall 124 and is enclosed by the jacket 190.

The cover part 114 can be placed on the casing 190 to close off the top of the packaging space 202. It is provided that the cover part 114 overlaps the casing 190 in a form-fitting manner.

In order that the cover part 114 can also engage over the base part 110 in a form-fitting manner without wobbling in the storage state, fold lines 204 are arranged on the outer edges 126. In this case, the fold lines extend from the lower corner areas diagonally upwards in the longitudinal direction 102.

The user can press the outer edges 126 inwards to assume the use state, whereby they can bend at the fold lines 204. This reduces the width of the base part 110 is reduced, and the cover part 114 can be put over the base part 110.

Since the locking sections 140, 142 folded outward into or through the engagement opening 156 protrude beyond the inwardly pressed outer edges 126, the recesses 170 are formed on the cover part 114 into which the locking sections 140, 142 can engage ( Figure 2 ).
