Description

CABLE PACKAGING METHOD IN THE FORM OF SPOOL OR COIL WITH
THREE OR MORE WINDING STATIONS AND A MACHINE THEREOF
Technical Field
The invention relates to a packaging method to be used in cable winding machines, consisting of at least three and/or more winding heads, wherein one of the heads winds the cable and each one of the other heads operates as a station for the post-winding operations (cutting, packaging, removal, loading of empty spools, etc.), and a machine structure regarding this method.
State of the Art
Today, automated or manual spool/coil winding machines consist of one or two winding heads.
In the cable winding machines with a winding head, the winding of the cable onto the spool or in the coil form, packaging and removal of the spool/coil whose winding is finalized takes place on the same winding head.
In the cable winding machines with two winding heads, one of the winding heads wounds the cable onto the spool or in the coil form while the other winding head is concerned with the packaging of the finished spool or coil and then, taking the same out of the cable winding machine. The said packaging and removing processes take time depending on the used method and limit the general production capacity of the machine. This capacity is not dependent on winding speed of the heads only but also depends on operations such as the packaging and removal of the wound products.
Higher production capacity of the machines with two winding heads compared to the machines with one winding head results from the fact that the time periods called dead time in which the cable winding period is halted is shortened by embedding the operations of packaging and removal of the product whose winding is finished on one of the winding heads within the winding time of the other head.

Description of the Invention
The invention relates to a packaging method to be used in cable winding machines, consisting of at least three and/or more winding heads (1.1, 1.2, 1.3), wherein one of the heads winds the cable and each of the other heads operate as a station for post-winding operations (cutting, packaging, removing, loading of empty spools, etc.).
The rotating table (4) consisting of three and/or more winding heads (1.1, 1.2, 1.3) generally consists of a winding station (5.1), a packaging/coil removal station (5.2) and an empty spool loading station (5.3) and each area operates as a separate station. When the cable winding machine is starting to work; the winding head 1 (1.1) is at the winding station (5.1), winding head 2 (1.2) is at the packaging/coil removal station (5.2), and winding head 3 (1.3) is at the empty spool loading station (5.3). The number of winding heads and stations can be three or more, depending on the need.
When the cable spool/coil wound on the winding head 1 (1.1) positioned on the winding station (5.1) through the rotating table (4) reaches a certain length, it is carried to the packaging/coil removal station (5.2) with the rotating table (4) as the winding head 1 (1.1) rotates. At the same time, the traverse unit (2.1) and the traverse pipe (2.2) position themselves according to the momentary position of the winding head 1 (1.1) with forward/backward and upward/downward movements. As the rotating table (4) carries the winding head 1 (1.1) from the winding station (5.1) to the packaging/coil removal station (5.2), it brings the winding head 2 (1.2) to the winding station (5.1). When the cable spool/coil in winding head 1 (1.1) reaches the desired length, the cable is cut through the blade on the traverse pipe (2.2) or winding head 2 (1.2).
Immediately after the cable is cut, the winding head 2 (1.2) starts the sable spool/coil winding at the winding station (5.1). The cable spool/coil whose winding is completed at winding head 1 (1.1) is carried to the packaging/coil removal station (5.2) with the rotating table (4) and the stretching is performed depending on the type of packaging process. The stretched cable spool/coil is taken from the packaging/coil removal station (5.2) using a retaining clip (3) and taken out from the cable winding machine. In the operations that do not require stretching, after the completion of the cable cutting process, the retaining clip (3) starts the removal process of the cable spool/coil without waiting. The packaging operation can be varied such as stretching, hooping, binding, etc. More than one packaging method can be used on the same station.
When the cable spool/coil on the winding head 2 (1.2) reaches the desired length, the rotating table (4) starts the rotating movement again. This rotating movement carries the winding head 3 (1.3) to the winding station (5.1) and the winding head 2 (1.2) to the packaging/coil removal station (5.2). The blade on the traverse pipe (2.2) or the winding head 3 (1.3) cuts the cable. The cable winding process is continued by attaching the end of the cable on the cut side to the winding head 3 (1.3). The rotating table (4) which rotates during the cable cutting carries the winding head 1 (1.1) to the removal area with the retaining clip (3). In the case that the cable is wound on the spool, the previously prepared empty spools (M) are automatically placed on the winding heads at the empty spool loading station (5.3).
The winding station (5.1), packaging/coil removal station (5.2) and the empty spool loading station (5.3) can change places based on the properties of the cable winding machine, cable to be wound and the spool/coil, the number of stations can be increased or decreased, and more winding heads can be added.
One of the three heads on the cable winding machine winds the cable and each of the other heads operate as a station for post-winding operations (cutting, packaging, removal, loading of empty spools, etc.). Since the post-winding operations are distributed to the other heads, a considerable performance increase is accomplished for a cable winding machine.
The drawings presented to aid the description of the invention are given as examples for the spool winding and coil winding embodiments of the invention and they should not be considered as limiting the invention.
